Principal Avionics Engineer

This new Principal Engineer can reside and work in company offices in either Chandler Arizona area or Duluth Minnesota.

Will be responsible for the research, specification, integration, testing, certification and follow-on support of avionics systems and software……and supporting electrical components and installations for general aviation aircraft.

Will work closely with equipment manufacturers, as well as other systems engineers and test pilots within the organization…. to establish and refine cross-system requirements for a highly integrated avionics system

RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical leadership and oversight of Avionic Systems Engineers involved in complex avionics system architecture development

Integration and testing of avionics and electrical systems and equipment, including requirements development and detailed designs and installation

Maintain process documents IAW current regulations and best practices

Test case development, execution and troubleshooting on both bench and aircraft

Coordinate design development and system integration within subcontractors

Generate high quality reports and test plans that will be used to meet FAR Part 23 certification requirements

Generate engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures to develop and maintain type design data for multiple aircraft


Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering

14+ years of experience with avionics development/integration/certification (14 CFR Part 23).

Process development (Six Sigma Green belt or others).

Process mapping and deployment (VSM).

Use of design tools such as CREO, MATLAB and/or VBA.

Requirements Management tools (PTC Integrity, Doors and/or Jama).

Change Management and Configuration Management tools (JIRA, Windchill, Clearquest and/or Clearcase).

Pilot or Ground School experience

Integrated avionics systems (G1000, G3000, etc.)

Avionics systems, software and hardware development processes (ARP-4754/DO-178/DO-254).

Requirements traceability (DOORS, JAMA)

Equipment environmental qualification (DO-160)

Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and spectrum analyzers

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)

Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, JAMA, PTC Windchill PDM, and PTC Creo tools preferred
