Technical Support Manager (Fairfax VA)

Description

This job is onsite the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) Traffic Operations Center (TOC) in FAIRFAX VIRGINIA

This job is onsite / in the TOC 8am-5pm 5 days per week.

Required skills: Customer service, trouble shooting, Windows server/workstation support, VMWare, Oracle/SQL.
Nice-to-haves: AWS cloud work, Reporting tools (Jasper or BOXI) and Linux

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and communication issues
Document application configuration settings and troubleshooting procedures
Use, maintain, and updated the knowledge base for the application
Assess system performance and recommend changes to improve performance
Facilitate ad hoc reporting using Jasper Reports as requested
Configure and troubleshoot company’s application software and associated databases
Perform software upgrades as needed on workstations
Work jointly with Software Engineers and Software Quality Assurance team in testing company’s applications
Work jointly with Database Administrator and Software Engineers to define needs and requirements for continued operation, upgrade and security of clients’ systems


Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Excellent troubleshooting skills
Experience working with cross-functional teams such as developers
Operational experience supporting a 24x7x365 environment
Broad knowledge of different server operating systems, equipment and topologies
Experience working with various workstations and server operating systems
Knowledge of network configuration and network environments
DROOLS/Guvnor and Jasper Reports a plus
years and strong experience supporting Windows Servers and workstations

Practical experience with SQL Developer and/or Admin a plus
Practical experience with the software development life cycle, including change control and configuration management
Experience with remote access software
BS degree preferred
